The ambulance service area (ASA) covers an area of about 800 square miles which includes the fire district. In 2007, the District responded to nearly 2,800 emergency calls for help. Approximately ninety percent of the calls are medical; 5% are fires and the other 5% are miscellaneous calls. Of the ambulance calls, 8 in 10 are transported, with 75% going to Eugene or Springfield hospitals. The 12 career firefighter/paramedics, 40 volunteers, two administrative personnel and the Fire Chief operate out of stations located in Cottage Grove, Creswell, Saginaw, and in the Camas Swale area.
