Our Organization

Governance & Leadership

SLCFR is governed by a five-member elected Board and led by the Fire Chief, who is employed by the Board. The Fire Chief serves as the CEO of the District, overseeing all personnel and operations.

Service Area & Operations

SLCFR is located south of the Eugene/Springfield area along the I-5 corridor in the Willamette Valley. The District operates from four recognized fire stations and has an ISO Class 2/4/10W rating, achieved on April 1, 2016.

The District serves a population of approximately 25,000 residents within its 132-square-mile boundary and provides 24/7 advanced life support ambulance services across an 800-square-mile area, including locations outside the Fire District boundaries.

Funding & Community Support

SLCFR is funded by a permanent property tax rate of $1.0335 per $1,000 of assessed value. In 2012, voters approved an Operations and Staffing Levy of $0.047 per $1,000, which has been essential in maintaining staffing levels and critical services. Without this levy, ambulance services and station staffing in Creswell and Cottage Grove would be significantly reduced.
