What others have to say about the Resident program:

Being a Student Resident with South Lane County Fire & Rescue has given me on the job experience with career personnel and furthered my EMT skills. I have been able to expand my firefighter knowledge, skills, and NFPA certifications working along-side career Firefighter/Paramedics who are committed to hands on training and continuous growth as a department.

As a Student Resident I was able to pursue and complete an education towards an Associates of Applied Science degree in Paramedicine that South Lane County Fire & Rescue helped encourage and prepare me for every step of the way.

As Student Residents we were accountable for daily apparatus checks, station duties, and responding to the district needs from the station where we also live. This helped prepare me for the standards and expectations of a job in the fire service. Living at the fire station I was also surrounded by like-minded, goal-oriented peers who helped motivate and push me to be the best I could be.

South Lane County Fire & Rescue invests and prides themselves on their Student Resident Program while offering you the chance to further your education and learn on the job skills with a transporting ALS service. I heard about the benefits and success of this resident program while I was living in Idaho and I decided to apply. I can honestly say that choosing to apply and investing myself in this student resident program is by far one of the best decisions I have ever made! - Luke Bean
